Jim Hansen graduated from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics. He worked for the Archer Brothers as a mechanic on Trans Am Road Race cars, for Artic Cat as an engineer on ATVs and watercraft, for QA1 as a shock development engineer before starting Legend Engineering in 2000.

Troy Leiphart graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for Honda as an ATV engineer, Artic Cat as an ATV engineer, Buell Motorcycles as a shock engineer, and QA1 in their racecar shock program before starting Legend Engineering in 2000.
